Olympic Declaration 2010: The Austria House -
faster, higher, stronger – more efficient
Environmental and climate change protection are primary concerns of the Green Olympics. Sustainability and energy efficiency have emerged as a new discipline. The Austria House, built according to the Passive House Standard, clearly wins the medal in this discipline and extends the traditional Olympic motto “faster, higher, stronger” to include the goal “more efficient.”

For over 25 years, the Austria House has been an established institution at Olympic Games. Today, under the direction of the ÖOC and ÖPC, it is a place of communicative exchange and culinary encounters between athletes, supporting staff, journalists, sponsors, and guests.
Visitors to the ecologically exemplary building are greeted by a pleasant, well-ventilated climate that supports high performance at all levels.
Our export product is the first passive house in Canada, where it has received enthusiastic responses. In contrast to the standard practice of disassembling the Austria House after past Olympic events, it will remain on this site and its ownership transferred to the City of Whistler.
